About dierdre

I was diagnosed with a mental disability a year ago and ended up with a breakdown, flunking out of school and losing my FASFA. My fiance and I are planning on getting married, I have a daughter who is going to adopt, and I am worried that MY history with FASFA will effect his, after we are married, in a negative way. I looked on the FASFA webpage and couldn't find any answers. Any help would be appreciated.

as far as I know, your FAFSA should NOT affect his FAFSA - they are 2 completely different accounts that existed prior to your marriage.

Although, to be clear, I would suggest speaking to your student loan representative. Additionally, you may have payments due if you took loans - this can be worked out too - but you have to speak to someone at fafsa to determine where you stand and how it will affect your future as a student - here is their contact information

One other thing I do want to mention - your health benefits - I am guessing you are covered by medicaid at this point - you may want to have your fiance check into his healthcare and see how you are affected ... since you have a pre-existing condition, you may/may not be covered by his insurance right away...

to clarify I have a daughter that he, my fiance, wishes to adopt after marriage. I haven't worked in about a year now and on top of that I am recieving TANF while I deal with treatment. Hopefully that is enough info to clarify some things for us
